The time gate had not been closed behind Magus for more than three minutes before he dove into the great sea ahead of him and began his search. For years he toiled long and hard. Using magic to sustain himself at the bottom of the ocean, scouring over the wreckage of the Black Omen, The Ocean Palace, and what he could find of the remains of his once mighty kingdom.
The villagers and the former occupants of Zeal begged him for leadership and guidance... But he had tasted power once before, or will taste power in the future. He had seen what it had made him, what he had done. He flatly refused but helped out where he could. Helping crops grow, and ensuring that humanity survived on...
His only discoveries on the ocean floor were a few old chests containing relics of the bygone kingdom. He scoured the Ocean Palace wreckage last, since it was beleived it was all taken and warped into the Black Omen. It wasn't totally gone though, and it was there that Magus discovered it. Schala's pendant. Nearly three years of searching and he finally felt that he had the grim evidence he needed to convince himself. She was dead, and not coming back.
Using the pendant, he tore a hole through time, forcing himself to the End of Time, much to Gaspar's suprise. After The Guru of Time told Magus that he could not revive Schala the way they had with Crono, Magus flew into a rage. He tried to open a gateway out but something else was at work. The Nexus had reached out to the easiest place to transport to. Magus inadvertently tapped into that and opened up not a new Gateway back home but to someplace else...
